Another Long Day

The darkness hides from the light

When the hero is all alone, he sits and cries

There’s an old man, he just asks why

He asks, Why is this life so hard?

He gets up in the morning and he puts his shoes on

Grabs some coffee and he’s out that door

He drives to work and listens to his radio

It helps him dream about a little bit more

Every day it’s the same old story

He works so hard, he never gets ahead

He drives home and listens to his radio

It’s the end of another long day

Another long day

There’s a young girl with a baby in her hands

Her life didn’t turn out exactly the way she planned

Now she’s doing the best, the best she can

And she cries, Why is my life so hard?

She gets up in the morning and she puts her shoes on

Grabs a cup of coffee and she’s out that door

She drives to work and listens to her radio

It helps her dream about a little bit more

Every day it’s the same old story

She works so hard to get that pay

She drives home and listens to her radio

It’s the end of another long day

Another long day

I know, you know, exactly what I’m saying

There ain’t no dress rehearsal for life

I know there are two sides I’ve been playing

This is my life

This is your life

I know there’s something out there to see

Something so much bigger than you or me

It keeps my dreams alive, it lets me breathe

Because I know this life can be so hard

I get up in the morning
and I put my shoes on

Grab a cup of coffee and I’m out that door

I drive to work and listen to my radio

It helps me dream about a little bit more

Every day it’s the same old story

I work so hard to get that pay

I drive home and listen to my radio

It’s the end of another long day

Another long day

Words and Music by J-Henry

Just A Woman

She’ll take your heart

She’ll take your soul

She’ll take your life

She’ll take your money

She’ll take your car

She’ll tell your wife

And she don’t care

What other people say

It’s just a game to her

As long as she gets paid

CHORUS:

She’s just a woman

I said I don’t care

She’s just a woman

She holds the Devil’s hand

She’ll swear she loves you

But you have to buy the ring

She’ll keep you dangling

On the end of her little string

When she’s bored with you

You’ll wish that you were dead

You’re better off

Than having that *itch run in your head

REPEAT CHORUS

That little freak

She’s going to rip your heart

EDITOR’S PICK: Absolute Americana perfection.

With all the cushy blessings of Pop intelligently matched with the ache and grind of country Americana, J-Henry has honed in on all the elements that make this genre so widely appealing. Taking the influences of Bob Seger, Van Morrison, Hornsby, Springsteen and Mellencamp while making this genre his very own, this up and coming rocker deserves a hearty listen.

~ Derek Sivers, CD Baby

Another Long Day is a powerful testament to classic rock’s staying power. J-Henry is a singer/songwriter at heart, writing tender songs that are part brainy emotions and part heartfelt reactions. Roots rock might not have ever sounded this good coming from a guy who sounds more seasoned rock veteran than newcomer.

Killer Voodoo Jukin’ Swamp Blues

This is a great jukin’, bluesy kick-ass song from the get-go! It’s got that deep south, bayou country, swampy New Orleans groove. Dig that catchy chorus: “She’s just a woman, she holds the devil’s hand…” the singer belts out, damning this evil voodoo woman and the back-up vocalists oooh-aaah in unified commiseration. Look out! The lead and back-up singing is hot, the drummer’s pounding, the keys are funkin’ and the whole damn joint is jumpin’! The flaming, soaring guitar during the lead almost blew me out of the swamp water. Play that twangy thang! This song cooks all the way through. If this ain’t a hit you can shrink my head and put it on a stick.

This is ROCK

Thank you for being in this catagory. I don’t know how many more soul-less acts I could’ve taken before I’d given up on the rock genre. You are what rock is all about. Smokin guitars, heavy vocals, great backups, and a smoking rhythm section. Great production, all around top notch. You will be added to the play list as you should be.
